What a week!

Good morning,

We had a wonderful time yesterday. The purpose of our trip was to make community connections and expand our worldview by exploring Chilliwack’s history dating back 5000 years. Thank you very much to our parent volunteer Mrs. Causten and Mrs. Huband (EA) for coming on our adventure! I often wonder what students come home and tell you they learned during the day, please comment on the blog if your student shared an interesting fact or connection from the tour of the museum.

While walking to the museum, we did encounter a community member who seemed to be having a bad day. Many children felt uncomfortable in the presence of this person, I did my best to reduce our proximity to the individual as we walked. Once we arrived at the museum safely I addressed students questions and concerns. It is important to remember, while the community member seemed to be making bad choices, we do not know her story. We can be compassionate from a distance, speak kindly about her and pray for her safety and well being.

Our visit to the library was cut short due to time limitations, most students were able to take out books. In the future I would love to take the class to the City of Chilliwack Archives, maybe we can stop at the library again! All books students signed out are their responsibility along with their library cards.

In the business of the day I didn’t test the Bible Memory Verse. Sorry! I know the kids work hard to memorize the scriptures I assign, I will test it on Monday giving students an extra few days to practice.

Our class is filled with generous spirits! Did you know we raised $41.40 for Terry Fox? All students participated in a Terry Fox run on Wednesday in PE class.

Drink lots of water today Grade 5/6. We hiked 4.2 km yesterday!

I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Ms. Froyland
