Dear grade 6 community,

We have a few today’s to get to our goal of ending the year strong on Friday! The excitement in the class is electric today.

I thought it might help parents to know what is happening each day this week so you can help to prepare your student. Our week might need to be somewhat flexible as always, but we have a rough idea of what is to come.

Monday: Routine day (small math quiz and wrap up of unit), French classroom project in groups, science STEM project in groups

Tuesday: As you probably know, we have completed the novel Barren Grounds. As a celebration of learning, we will be going to the kitchen to prepare a class feast. Sharing meals is a big part of this story, as is subsistence harvesting from the land with traditional practices. Students will be given CHOICE to try the food we prepare, no student will be asked to try something they do not wish to taste. All students will participate in cooking and cleaning up!

Menu:

  • deer sausage
  • bannock
  • carrots
  • jam (homemade)

*this is meant to be a lite meal, please send lunches with your children and note there is NO PIZZA lunch service tomorrow!

We will also be preparing a treat for our buddies (to be served to the grade 2 class on Thursday), which will consist of pudding, graham crackers, Teddy Grahams, and candy. The ingredients will all be put together into a little cup to look like a teddy floating in a pool. This will be enjoyed by both our grade 2 class and our class on Thursday at our last buddy time, which will have a beach party theme!

Wednesday: Cultus Lake Waterslides field trip! Yay! The bus leaves at 8:30 am! Please be sure students have sunscreen (even through the clouds, we had some burns from Friday), a few towels, food, and water. Below you will find the pricing for food at Cultus Waterpark in case you want to send some money along for your child.

Thursday: Classroom clean-up, STEM projects, music, and french classroom project. Please send extra bags to school for student supplies.

FriYay-Knight’s Day (HALF DAY): Class presentations, closing thoughts on the year (highlights, hard lessons, and cheers for others), games, music, and report cards. SUMMER VACATION BEGINS!
